Here at the Ideal Showroom an art collective from Denmark called Artrebels worked every day on a paper installation. Besides that they also sold prints - we bought the one above. It is from Hvass & Hannibal, a duo which is also part of the collective. See more prints of them here - everything can be ordered online.

cross-country

Our friend Antje, an illustrator and graphic designer, made a journey through different countries earlier this year and of course she couldn't stop drawing everything she saw. All her wonderful illustrations are now bound together as a drawing journal in the form of a book. You can order it via her website.
And it is not only a travel diary, but also a lovestory ♥.

Kat Heyes &hearts

Kat Heyes actually started studying fashion design at the St Martins College of Art and Design in London. But before graduating she realized it was not the right thing for her. Encouraged by the great Julie Verhoeven Kate did her first comission as an illustrator for no one less than GUCCI. Well that's a good way to start your career.
Now Kat is living her dreamlive while working at her own studio by the sea. *sigh*

*seufz*

Kat also has published a book about camping together with her friend. Sweet.

Yoshitomo Nara

picture: Johnen + Schöttle

I have been a fan of Yoshitomo Naras art for along time and was very happy that a gallery here in Cologne exhibited some of his work. There was not so much to see, but luckily they showed the Mini Puff Marshies - five giant heads of a girl made of fibreglass. I especially liked the colour and texture of these pieces. Also the Big Pup Head was great to see in real life, since it was bigger (it is huge) than i expected.
Read more about it on the gallerys website: Johnen + Schöttle

My first crush

Do you remember how it was - your first crush? Do you remember his name? Do you remember when you first talked to him? Or did you send someone? Or did someone came up to you with a small piece of paper with THE question written on it?
Maybe this film will fresh up some memories...
//
Erinnert Ihr Euch noch... Eure erste Liebe?

the state of things

When I was a lilttle child, one of my favourite plush animals was a panda bear. His name was Nicki - because he was so soft and cuddly (Nicki is also the german word for 'velour')! So when I see one I get those nostalgic feelings. Lately I discovered the illustrations of Heiko Windisch - and obviously he is into panda bears aswell... and monkeys.

I ordered one of his notepads rightaway.

just pop

Tado is a duo from the UK who do graphic design, illustration, animation, toy design and everything in between. I came across them when I was actually looking for wallpapers - they also made wallstickers.
When I visted their site (very cute btw) I found the follwoing in their portofolio. They did the wallprints for a fotoshoot for ELLE UK titled 'Tokyo Pop'.

I just love the whole styling.

They also used the vases of Jamie Hayon - I saw them last year on the IMM Cologne. They are just great and all the hype about him is justified.

::pimp your walls::

Sharmila Banerjee is a Cologne based Illustrator and Graphic Designer. Her colourful world is full of little animals and odd creatures in phantastic landscapes.

She made illustrations for the RheinDesign Flyer and now you can purchase some of her work as wallstickers, available at tapetenagentur.

I really like her work because it reminds me of some artists that create vinyl toys. The mister and I are totally into collecting these little characters...

Pastel Shades

I simply love Audrey Kawasakis art. I love the way she paints and what she paints. I love the fact that she paints on wood, which gives her paintings immediately a kind of vintage attitude. Her paintings are innocent on the one hand but with a slight hint of erotism on the other. Also it reminds me of some Art Nouveau tableaus while her depictions are sometimes even surrealistic.

I picked out two paintings that have that twenties thing going on.

The first one reminds me of Marlene Dietrich (which makes it of course a bit more a thirties thing).
