Mit Essen spielt man nicht

Ist die Rede von Fooddesignern, dann verbirgt sich dahinter leider nicht jemand, der besonders schönes Essen gestaltet, sondern eben nur jemand, der Essen entwirft und sich unter anderem mit der Frage beschäftigt: Wie bringe ich diese Tütensuppe dazu, nicht nach Tütensuppe zu schmecken?

Im Falle der Eugene and Louise Bakery aus Belgien verhält es sich ein wenig anders. Die Belgier sind ja schon allgemein hin bekannt für ihre Kreationen aus Schokolade. Was in der Küche dieser Konditorei zusammengezaubert wird, übertrifft für meinen Geschmack aber alle Meeresfrüchtepralinen. Mit ihren fantasievollen Kreationen aus Marzipan schaffen sie sozusagen eßbare Designertoys. Hinter der 'Eugene and Louise Bakery' stecken drei Freunde und ähm... Timmy der Hund - nein, das war ein anderer Film.
Die beiden Designer Glenn D’Hondt & Sylvia Meert arbeiten eigentlich als Illustratorenduo unter dem Namen Eugene and Louise. Tinne Meermans komplettiert das Trio, das sich letztendlich hinter der kleinen Zuckerbäckerei verbirgt. Schokoladenträume und die nostalgische Liebe zu hausgemachtem brachte die drei zusammen. So entstehen in Ihrer Küche nicht nur die liebevoll entworfenen Marzipanfiguren, sondern auch ganz gewöhnlich ungewöhnliche Schokoriegel, die wirklich mobil machen. In einer wunderbar gestalteten Verpackung natürlich.

If mentioning a fooddesigner, it is unfortunately not someone who creates pretty looking meals, but someone who creates food and is mostly involved in questions like 'how am i gonna make this instant soup not taste like instant soup?'
In the case of the Eugene and Louise Bakery from Belgium it is a little bit different. Belgiums are already famous for their chocolate, but what leaves the kitchen of this bakery outshines all the seafood pralines. With their imgainative marzipan treats they are somehow creating edible designertoys.
The two designers and illustrators Glenn D’Hondt & Sylvia Meert are actually working as a duo under the name of Eugene and Louise. They teamed up with Tinne Meerman to establish the 'Eugen and Louise Bakery'. Chocolatedreams and the nostalgic love for homemade cooking is what brought them together. Results of their teamwork are not only these cute marzipan treats but also some good old fashioned chocolate bars. In a wonderful packaging of course.

Some time ago I already told you, I'm not really into goods made out of recycled things. But what I am really into is colourful plastic stuff. And if that colourful plastic stuff happens to be recycled - I am all for it!
Martine Camillieri, a french artists almost only works with colourful plastics. It is not always about recycling , but always about giving things another meaning. The toy cars caught my eye at Colette's online store, but be sure to take some time to check out the artists other projects on her website. It is such a happy, playful world she establishes. And to my pleasure there are also some food related projects.

Vor einiger zeit habe ich schon mal gesagt, das Recycling nicht so mein Ding ist. Aber ich bin ein ganz großer Fan von allem bunten Plastik. Und wenn dieses bunte Plastik eben recycelt ist, bin ich auch dafür zu haben!
Martine Camillieri, eine französische Künstlerin, arbeitet eigentlich aussschließlich mit meinem heißgeliebten bunten Plastik. Es geht dabei nicht zwar nicht immer um Recycling, aber meistens darum, Dingen eine andere Bedeutung zu geben.
Die Spielzeugautos haben mich sofort fasziniert, als ich durch den Online Shop von Colette stöberte. Ein Besuch der Website der Künstlerin ist ebenso lohnenswert. Sie errichtet eine wunderbar farbenfrohe und verspielte Welt mit ihren Installationen. Außerdem, sehr zu meiner Freude, gibt es auch einige Projekte, die sich um Essen drehen...

Tado is a duo from the UK who do graphic design, illustration, animation, toy design and everything in between. I came across them when I was actually looking for wallpapers - they also made wallstickers.
When I visted their site (very cute btw) I found the follwoing in their portofolio. They did the wallprints for a fotoshoot for ELLE UK titled 'Tokyo Pop'.




I just love the whole styling.

They also used the vases of Jamie Hayon - I saw them last year on the IMM Cologne. They are just great and all the hype about him is justified.
